[edit] What is it?

Wii Sports is a game that comes pre-packaged with every Nintendo Wii bought from a retailer. It is not available for seperate purchase which means you may miss out if you buy a pre-owned Nintendo Wii from a store of someone else.

The main gist of Wii Sports is to give you a feel of the Wii Remote. You can do this in 5 different sports:

  • Tennis (1-4 players)
  • Baseball (1-2 players)
  • Bowling (1-4 players with one remote)
  • Golf (1-4 players with one remote)
  • Boxing (1-2 players, each with one remote and nunchuk)

[edit] Points

The seperate games consist mastering different aspects of the Wii Remote's features in order to achieve a Pro Status for each of the 5 games. You earn a Pro Status by reaching 1000 points. These points are obtained every time you win one of the 5 games. Each of the 5 games has it's own seperate points counter. This meaning, if you earn 5 points in Tennis, those points will only count toward the Tennis Pro Status. Sometimes if you lose a game, the result will be losing points. Of course, an easy way to avoid this is quickly hitting '+' on the remote and selecting either 'Quit' or 'Retry'.

[edit] The Introduction of Miis

This game also introduces the Wii Console's popular feature called a Mii. These representations of people can be made to mimic a person's appearance. They are used in the games, though it seems the height and weight settings in the Mii Channel do not carry over into the games in Wii Sports.
