Minigames and Bonus Games

In Yoshi's Island DS, there are two types of games that can be unlocked, and they are minigames, which are longer, score based games and bonus games which are just short activities completed for extra lives.

How to unlock Bonus Games:

Get 700 points in a world for the bonus game in that world. The list below shows which bonus games are unlocked by getting 800 points in each world:

How to unlock Minigames:

You must find the minigames in the worlds they are unlocked in, behind locked doors.

How to unlock Difficult Mini games:

Get all the Character Coins in each specific world. Here is what I mean:

To unlock Tulip Shooter, get all character coins in world 1, do that in world 2 for Flutter Challenge, world 3 for Bouncy Maze, world 4 for Speed Eating and world 5 for Egg Toss.

Advice:

Flip Cards

No real advice here other than you get 10+ lives if you find all the icons except Kamek in the game.

Scratch

Also no tips, but here is the lives/baby face scoring:

Match

You can always write down the card matching combination, or photograph it when the cards are all shown, then refer to that. A list of icons possible in this game are:

Roulette

Remember in this game you can raise your bet to nearly any amount of lives from what you have, as long as at least one remains afterwards. And if something high gets multiplied by zero, you have lost a ton of lives.

Slot Machine

Nothing to say other than this is luck purely. However, here is the key to what symbols = what amounts of lives:

Minigames

Tulip Shooter

Here, you have to shoot Shy Guys into the Tulip (red flower) for a high score. My tip here is to throw them from a specific point on the platforms each side of the Tulip, and spit them out upwards.

Hard Mode

It's the same, just now there are Tribal Spear Guys, Tap Taps and Bandits as well as normal Shy Guys and jumping Shy Guys. Baron Von Zeppelin Balloons also fly above with bombs.

Note: You can eat the spear guys, shy guys and jumping shy guys, but all other enemies are not edible.

Flutter Challenge

You have to fly across the level by fluttering with the jump button, which is done by holding it after jumping.

This is quite an easy game, and really is one of the best games to get lives in. If you are in the main adventure and come across this though, using Baby Princess Peach gives you a major advantage.

Hard Mode

Mainly the same, except there are clouds in the sky, and you start from the left of the screen rather than the right.

Bouncy Maze

Get through the maze of Bouncies to the finish as quickly as possible! Relatively easy game, and shortcuts do exist out there for this game, which involve going between specific bouncies. My tips would involve fluttering above them rather than directly bouncing on them though, and collect any clocks that would be conveniant to collect.

Hard Mode

My tip is to go to the 15th Bouncy from the start, and the gap between this and the 14th. Ground pound here, and you should eventially go through, so keep licking to fall down and be able to get times right near 40 seconds remaining!

Speed Eating

You must eat as many edible enemies as possible to make eggs, and then repeat until time runs out. Here, my tip is just to keep eating jumping shy guys, normal ones and Crazee Dayzees until the time runs out, hopefully ending with like 30 as the score.

Hard Mode

Just do the same, just watch out for the more difficult enemies here! Such as the Stilted and Spear Guys, Bandits, Tap Taps and the like.

You need to eat the shy guys, jumping ones, glide guys, hopping yellow creatures and stilted shy guys for a good score.

Egg Toss

Here, you must hit the targets with eggs. Five are above the start, and one-two targets are by the far ends. My tip here is to hit more than one with an egg, as each egg can go through multiple targets.

Hard Mode:

Hit the targets as usual, but it is far more difficult now, as there are bungee piranha plants, many goonies, tap taps and a piranha plant on the ground level.
