Noob Guide by Protoguy1
The following guide was written by Protoguy1 of the Gamefaqs Mario Kart DS board, and is an identifier of what seems to be noobie behaviour on Nintendo Wifi Connection in Mario Kart DS.

1. Newbie vs. Noob
*********************
This section will help clear up what I mean when I use the word noob. The way I see it, a newbie is a person who is new or inexperienced whereas a noob is a jerk. This guide is about how to spot noobs and how to avoid being one. I will tell you more about noobs in the next section. I just thought it was necessary to clarify the difference between newbie and noob.

2. Nooby Behavior

Action Replay
===========
This is pretty straightforward. I consider the use of AR in a race to get an advantage is cheap and shows a lack of skill in the racer. I don't mind the use of it to get access to tracks and things like that, but it is more often used to get an unfair advantage.
Excessive Track Repeating
=====================
Again, pretty straightforward. It's just doing the same track over and over and over and over again. Just recently I was forced to Baby Park three times in a row. Personally, I find this one of the most frustrating things. I don't feel it is wrong if you do it to a noob if he does it first, but you should never start it.
Stopping at Finish Line
==================
This might sound weird but I find it very insulting, and you will too once you understand what I mean. What happens is a person gets a huge lead, then on the very last lap, he waits right at the edge of the finish line until you get very close, then they just go across. It hardly ever happens to me anymore (since I can keep up better on the times I do lose), but it used to happen very often when I first started playing WIFI matches, and I find it extremely insulting.
Racing Backwards
===============
I know, dumb title, but I couldn't think of a better one. Basically, a person picks a car with a high item stat and goes backward on the track just hitting people with stars or lightning or similar things. All the while, continuing to go around the track backward. This might sound unusual, but it happens more often than you might think, and is amazingly annoying.
Star Abusing
==========
Now before you start yelling at me, I have nothing against stars. Stars are awesome! They are one of my favorite items. What I am talking about is when a person gets a star and hits you with it, then backs up and hits you again, then goes forward and hits you again, then goes back...and so on and so forth until the star runs out. This usually isn't a problem if you have a kart with really high acceleration like one of Yoshi or Bones' karts or if there are more people than just you and the offending party, but if you are using a kart with less acceleration it can be infuriating.

3. Non-nooby Behavior
*************************
Snaking*
=======
You all know what snaking is. This is probably the most controversial of the things I don't consider nooby, and like I said in the first section, there is a fine line between being being nooby and being good. Snaking falls under being good. It is not cheap nor is it abusing the system. It was purposely left in to give the game depth.
Prolonged Rocket Boosting
=====================
Commonly refereed to as PRB, This is the utilized by using mini-turbos constantly while the rocket boost at the start of the race in still in effect. Even though it may be a glitch, it takes a great deal of skill to do and it can be learned by almost anyone. Thus I would say that this is a skill to be mastered rather than a glitch to spurned.
Saving Blue Shells Until Right before Finish Line
======================================
I know, sounds weird but in a close match, saving a blue shell until right before the finish line then unloading on them can actually win many races. I know, it seems cheap when it happens to you, but you can't really blame them for doing it. I do it myself when I feel it will help.

4. In-Closing...
****************
I know that these are my opinions, and I know that this will upset some people. But I just felt like writing this after what I have experienced in-game and have read on this board.
* Editorial Note: 'snaking' is often referred to as Straight Stretch Mini Turbo or SSMT, and SSMT is more of an expert used phrase.
