Mozilla FireFox Hidden Configuration Menu

Deep inside this popular web browser is a secret menu that allows you to change many, many options and values, and this page should tell you how to exploit it!

Access the Menu

Simply open a new window or tab, and type in 'about:config'. This will bring up the huge menu.

What can be changed

A heck of a lot of things beyond my actual knowledge can be altered, but some things to consider are:

Anything with a number/letter value beginning with # is the colour of something, and by entering the typical hex colour you would use for stylesheets in website pages, you can edit these to anything you wish.

Many things to do with security should ideally not be touched for obvious reasons, but you can if you wish.

Set print bgcolor or bgimages to true if you wish to print background colours or images when you decide to print a web page. Which can be helpful.

You can, by editing things with browser in front of them, edit things like visited link colour (if not already set), whether links are underlined, whether the browser tries to guess URLs entered in the address bar, whether it checks if it is the default browser and your home page (even though this can already be edited in the settings menus. A lot of colours and options can be changed like this, such as if blink is allowed (I guess if blink tags work in webpages).

You can also disable other things, like if certain types of Javascript work, if frames can be re sized and many, many other options. Experiment today!
