Mario Kart Chronicles:
Chapter 1 - The Announcement, the Prize, and the Damsel in Distress!
Mario and his trusty, yet sometimes pushed aside brother Luigi were taking a Sunday drive through peach Gardens, when Lakitu flew their way and gave them a piece of parchment. It read as following:
“Dear Fellow Racer,
Though are invited to the tournament of all tournaments, the Grand Prix of all Grand Prix’. If you would like to partake in this chance of a life time, then you should meet the other obliged contestants at the entrance to the Figure Eight Circuit; in parking lot 1A right in front of the Circuit. That is where you shall hear the rules and meat the fellow racers. If you wish to partake, then please sign below.

“I don’t like this momma mi-a!” Mario blurted while halting before he ran into a chain-chomp. “Me-a neither!” Luigi stated. “I wonder why-a the name is scratched out-a like-a this?” Mario wondered. Luigi kept quiet as they drove back to the castle to tell the news to Princess Peach.
When they finally got back they were dumbstruck to find the Princess tied to a chair in her room; with her mouth and legs wrapped with duck tape. “Who other than-a the Big Bowser!” Mario stated through his gasps of realization. Both Mario and Luigi ran as fast as humanly possible and then suddenly a wall of fire erupted around them. Bowser, accompanied by Baby Bowser jumped down from what seemed like nowhere and laughed his maniacal laugh.
“You two dumb fools! I knew you’d fall right into my trap!” he growled at Luigi and Mario. The Princess started to move and squirm as much as possible while in her very uncomfortable position. “What-a are you-a talking about Big-Bowser?” Mario asked confused. “Isn’t it obvious! You are going to be racing for Princess Peach’s life!!! GWAHAHAH!!!” As Mario and Luigi both realized what was going on they both stepped back a few steps until their backs hit the door. “Why-a are you-a doing this Big Bowser?!” Luigi replied while choking back the tears. “Because it’s my job to be bad and evil! Now go and shoo! Oh yeah, and make sure you come to the racing tournament. MUHAHAH!”
As Mario and Luigi went to go to their kart garage, they both looked at each other with the lowest amount of hope. They new that what came next was going to be all downhill.
Chapter 2 - The Meeting and the Horrible Truth!
While Mario and Luigi worked as best as they could on their karts to get ready to save the Princess later that day, they began talking. “Why-a would the Big Bowser do that-a to somebody. It seems so pointless and maniacal!” Mario blurted through the smell or gasoline and rubber. “He is-a the Big Bowser, but cant-a he be nice-a for just one day!” Luigi thought out loud. “I just wish he was nicer… HEY, we have-a to get down to the Figure-a Eight Circuit to hear the rules at the-a meeting!” Mario said. “Well then, lets-a go!” Luigi yelled as if to the whole world.
As Mario and Luigi made their way to the Figure Eight Circuit Parking Lot 1A, they started to make out all their Mushroom Kingdom friends and enemies all in a circle mumbling to each other. They saw Yoshi, Toad, and many others. No one knew what was going on, but they knew it wasn’t good. Mario and Luigi told them all about what Bowser did to the Princess and all of their mouths gaped lower then the ground. Toad had not seen Toadette, and Yoshi had not seen Birdo. There was a great deal of pandemonium. Then, Bowser came up in his kart surrounded my a bunch of Bowser Jr’s in littler karts. As Bowser got off his kart, everyone could fell their hopes drop.
“GWAHAHAH! I see you all got the note! Then you must all listen to the rules!! MUHAHAHAH!” Everyone backed up more, more, then they all made a run for it but a wall of fire sprang up all around them and a bunch of Bowser Jr’s pushed and nudged them back to where Bowser was talking. They all realized what was happening when they all saw their dates come in behind Bowser tied up in rope and duck tape. “Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Dry Bones, ROB, and DK; you can all go!” That only left Mario and Luigi, Toad, and Yoshi. Now they could see that Bowser had Birdo, Toadette, and Princess Peach behind him. “You will all listen to what I say! And Luigi, you cannot race in this event, for you are not in love with the Princess and if I let you race, then you would just mess everything up!”
“What is all-a this about!” Mario questioned. “You fools! It is quite simple. GUWHAHAH!.” At that exact moment Mario realized what was going on; they were racing for the one they loved. If they lost, then their loved one would die. Mario didn’t want his friends loves to die, but he had an idea after he won the Grand Prix. An idea that is risky, sneaky, and could end in all of their true loves either dying or surviving… but it had to be done! By now Luigi was back in the castle calling everyone he knew about what was going on, but the phone was broken by Bowser so Luigi had no communication, so he went back to the Figure Eight Circuit to see when the first race was. He wanted to support his brother because he knew how much he loved Princess Peach, and that he’d risk his life for her.
While Birdo, Toadette, and Princess Peach banged and squirmed as much as possible, they knew no one in the entire Mushroom Kingdom would hear them. “4 Races! 1st Place gets 5 Points, 2nd Place gets 3 Points, and Last Place gets only 1 Point. Get up to the starting line, and lets begin race one at Figure Eight Circuit. The other three races will be picked by me! All races will be from Mario Kart DS. And to think, my game ‘Bowser Kart DS’ didn’t sell as good as this chum of a plumber…” Bowser growled. Lakitu flew down with an intersection light, and the first light was red, then yellow, then green. The race had begun!
Chapter 3 - Race One; and the Plan.
Mario squealed out of the starting line as quick as humanely possible, Toad and Yoshi both getting slow starts. Mario knew that he would have to get a lot of nice power slides in since Toad and Yoshi were known to Snake. On the first lap red shells were flying everywhere. Mario got hit by 2, Toad by 3, and Yoshi didn’t get out of last place until the third lap, so he got hit by no red shells. Mario had a nice full “bottom screen” lead on Toad and Yoshi was almost half a lap back. While Mario was on the last second to last straightaway he actually started feeling bad for Yoshi, but then his plan to save all three of them hit him in the back of the head. “Momma Mea!” Mario blurted. Not only was it the thought of the plan to save all of his friends true loves that hit him, a blue shell just circled and whacked him right in the center of his head causing him to spin off the road and hit a bush. Yoshi was still very far behind, but Mario saw him snag a Mega-Mushroom [about 20 mushrooms in one] around the last turn. Mario had to snake, even though he hated it. Right under the overhang Yoshi came into sit on Mario’s radar [bottom screen] and right when Mario hit the finish line, Yoshi nudged Mario’s back and sent him flying. Mario was unaffected, but Yoshi had the look of almost zero percent luck in his eyes. Mario knew he had to somehow tell Toad and Yoshi the plan.
“GWAHAHAHAH! First race, Little Plumber Boy gets 5 Points, Mushroom head gets 3 Points, and the ‘Little Dino that Could’ gets ONE POINT! GWAHAHAH!” Bowser yelled to the heavens. Mario knew that he had to tell Yoshi and Toad his plan right now. “Meet me here in 10 Minutes, and I’ll tell all you little maggots where the next race is!” Bowser yelled. “Psst! Yoshi, Toad, come here a second.” Mario whispered. “What is it?” Toad and Yoshi asked; Yoshi trying to hold back the tears of seeing what would happen if he lost the GP. “We all-a know what will happen to the people that don’t get-a first-a, right?” Mario asked. “Mhmmm.” Yoshi and Toad replied. “Well, I’m good-a at beating up the big Bowser when-a he doesn’t have his Bowser Jrs all around him.” Mario stated. Yoshi and Toad shook nodded. “If you guys can distract Big Bowser when he-a is all happy about your true loves being, well, you-a know…” Mario gulped. “…then I can go over there, grab-a the Big Bowser’s tail and throw across the Mushroom Kingdom!” Mario waited for an answer. Yoshi and Toad nodded and they all went back to their karts. Yoshi seemed to be in a much better mood.
“Get over here!” Bowser snarled. “The next race will be…. Hmmm… lets make this interesting! I have all the courses in a cap. Bowser Castle and [GBA]Bowser Castle are in here 5 times. MUHAHAHA! Also, there are cards colored red and green. A red card will get you 2 extra points added to your total score, and the red one will deduct 2 points fro your total score! Remember, there are four races, which means 3 picks from the cap since we already finished one race. The winner gets to pick! Plumber Boy, get up here!” Bowser demanded. Mario slowly came up to Bowser who was standing in the middle of the bridge of the Figure Eight Circuit. Mario reached into the beaten yellow cap with a large letter ‘W’ on it. Mario grabbed the sheet of paper, unfolded it, and jumped for joy as he read “Mario Circuit” on it! “Yippee! It’s my-a favorite course of the new DS game! Yippee!” Mario happily screamed. “Beginners luck!” Bowser snarled.
Everything went black. When Mario, Toad, and Yoshi opened their eyes, Lakitu was in front of them with a intersection light reading green on it. They were at the castle! But they were racing… and the race had just begun!
